I'm currently using Gallery 1.5.6 and I recently switched back to IE on my XP machine, specifically IE7. I was recently using Opera.
Since switching back to IE, I've noticed a couple of issues with Gallery, one relatively minor and one fatal, and I'd like to know if these issues are resolved in G2 before I upgrade:
1: When using Opera as my browser, I could right-click on an image and select "Properties" and it would show me the primary EXIF data from the photo. Doing this in IE7 results in the web server's file info about the image instead. Is there a setting in G2 to display the EXIF?
2: When using IE7 as my browser, I cannot log into my own Gallery, at least with my "admin" login. When I click the Login link, I get the login page, but when I enter my login info and tell it to go, instead of logging in it preloads the "Lost password?" form. I've verified that I'm entering the correct info by using copy&paste to paste the same data into the login form in Firefox 2.005, which works, and IE7, which doesn't. (I've filed a bug report for this one.)

1) When I right click on an image with IE7 in my G2, I see basic image properties in a window. Dimensions, image URL, size and some dates. No EXIF info what so ever. I tried it on an image in my G2 as well as an image at icanhascheezburger.com. You might need to take up this "fix" with MS or continue using Opera.
2) Gallery 1 and Gallery 2 are totally different beasts, something not "working" in G1 may or may not work in G2, but is totally unrelated to the fact that it is G1 or G2. Sounds like you might have a cookie or sessions problem maybe. It *could* be a bug in G1, but since at *least* 50% of users are using IE and a decent number are using IE7, I suspect it is an error on your end rather than G1. Not that it is your fault, more that it is isolated.
Using Gallery 2 doesn't do anything to your Gallery 1, so you can just go ahead and install it and see how you like it.

I've been all over my IE settings, and I cannot find anything that effects this. I've played around with what little java settings there are to no effect. I've also reverted to IE6 to no effect here.
If I could get even a clue as to where to look in the settings...
