I was under the impression that Gallery 1.3.4 would have built in the ability to create a static copy of the Gallery so that the images could be stored in HTML for offline viewing from a CD-ROM.

I can find no documentation in the 1.3.4 release candidate on this.

Is this available in the release candidate and, if so, where is the documentation on how to do it?

John Hughes

(P.S. I installed 1.3.4rc2 and it works great.)

Heya John. We are finally getting some documentation off the ground, but this isn't in there yet.

The short answer is that you can append a "?offline=true" to the URL and wind up in an offline mode that httrack or wget can work with. There are some subleties that I don't quite have a handle on, but perhaps Joan will get a chance to give you a quick rundown on them.

Nag, nag, nag :-)

John, I've sketched some notes. They will be used to create the official user document. Feedback, additions and corrections welcome.

Joan, the docs helped a lot, and I appear able to create an offline copy of my entire gallery, but I seem to be having trouble restricting either wget or httrack to a single album. They tend to start in the album and then move to the other non-nested albums. I'd really like to be able to do nested albums as well as a single album, but I'm probably just being difficult at this point :-)

Mine is at

http://pooh.asric.com/gallery

But it's behind a 144Kbps link, so it might be a little slow. Try useing the older albums on the 3rd page as they are from my older digital camera (or Kodak PhotoCDs) and should have smaller image sizes for easier testing.
