Ik really hope I do post this in the right place...:

I've got G2 running bridge in my Joomla-site (www.alphoto.nl/index.php). The site is of a photo-community and we're having quite a number of exhibitions during the year. Every new exhibition is announced on the Frontpage and I want to show some sample pictures in the Content-item.

As far as I can see, I can't use any G2 images directly in the Joomla-editor, Also pasting the absolute URL of the image on the server doesn't work (prohibited by G2 I think).

Is G2Image the only whay to get this to work? At the moment I host the pictures I want to use for content on a different location, but that's not a ideal situation.

Is it also possible to place the images in an album only visible for registered users, but do use some of those pictures in Joomla-content visible for anyone?

Thanks for your help, best regards,

Michael

Michael,

Your Joomla and Gallery2 have to be on the same server. Not the same domain, but at least the same server. This is true to use either or both the G2 Bridge and G2Image. The instructions I used to set up my G2Image Joomla testbed are here.

There is a Gallery2 protocol called Gallery Remote that would let you have them physically separated, but I don't think anyone has implemented it for Joomla.

Hope that helps explain it all,
Kirk

Thanks for your explanation, Kirk! I have to admit that I tried to set-up G2Image but I failed due to some access-restrictions on the host of my website. I don't have write access to the folder containing the Editors and the files I should update...

I hoped that there was an alternative to G2Image, but I guess I have to get in contact with the hosting provider for solving the permission-problems...
