Hi,

I'm preparing my G1>G2 migration. I had an old 1.5 version so I first upgraded to the latest 1.5 version to be sure. I did that on a copy of my /gallery folder called /gallery15. I planned to install G2 in a folder called /gallery2 and have all the /gallery15 albums imported. The reason is that I planned to keep the /gallery folder as the live version.

Now my question: the Gallery2:migration doc says: "Install Gallery v2 into a new folder called gallery (e.g. extract and rename gallery2 to gallery)" Is this really needed and why?

I wanted to go for the above mentioned scenario. For some reason I am not able to rename /gallery in gallery1 and embed this in my mambo. I cannot even access the ../install/ folder.

Any help is appreciated.

Best regards,

Jeffrey

g2's folder name can be anything. it doesn't have to be gallery or gallery2 or the like.
yes, you can install g2 at gallery2temp/ or gallery2/. then do the import, verify that everything's working, then change the foldername to gallery/ to finish your migration.

for detailed instructions, please refert to docs -> installation -> migrating from g1.
