Configuring permissions for Postnuke 0.764 and Gallery v1.5.7

I'm having problems with permissions in Gallery. I've got it installed, and it works, shows images so forth and so on. However: Only admins can add/modify albums. I've tried making a new user group in postnuke and give it admin access only to the gallery, however, that didnt work. Is gallery hardcoded to only allow users in the Admin group access to the admin controls? If so, is there a way I can set it up so that each postnuke user in the 'artists' group has access to add/delete/modify images only in their album while still being able to view all albums, while users in any other group can only view photos in any/all albums? Any help here would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
