Page History and Diff Capabilities

Just out of curiousity, how do the page history and Diff features for each page work?

i guess it's wiki. -> google to get more info about wiki.

short:
websites can be changed / maintained by a whole community. as everyone (who's allowed) can change the sites, the wiki system must keep track of all changes made by the last editor. you can easily revert all last changes.
