Gallery2 module + CCK

Hello,

It is possible to use Gallery2 with CCK module?

In the version 5.x the use of CCK in drupal already contributed very power and to use gallery2 would be fantastic to add images to the contents created with CCK.

No, it's currently not possible to use the gallery module with CCK.

But the Drupal 6 version will contain a gallery_content module that provides this functionality. The module will basically mirror G2 albums/items into Drupal nodes, so that many of the accustomed node features (such as comments support and views module integration, etc.) will be available for G2. The module will also implement a CCK field, where you can add new images or choose from your existing gallery. The author of G2Image (http://g2image.steffensenfamily.com/) is already working on a slightly modified version of his G2 image browser for this purpose. So YES in D6 you will get much more features from G2 that you are familiar with from other Drupal modules.

There is an issue on drupal.org about 'Tighter integration' (http://drupal.org/node/138400), where I occasionally post about the progress. You are welcome to add your thoughts there as well. Not everything mentioned there will be implemented 1:1 in the final module (because I refine the ideas while developing the module), but you can get the basic outline.

It is a great project. I know the project G2 de Kirk. It is making a great work for the integration of G2. (http://g2image.steffensenfamily.com/). Version 3.1, now developing, is going to add good functionalities.

I have visited the "Tighter integration" of gallery and am going to follow its progress. I believe that it is an interesting project for Gallery and Drupal.

A question.
The present option exactsize of G2, will be available in gallery_content?
I believe that it would be a very important improvement for the real functionality of G2. This makes possible the option to add images in different sizes in Content Types.

You are talking about the cck field again, right? I havent thought in details about this, but I think we will have a settings page (very similar to what we have for blocks or filters in 5.x-2.x) where you can set such options per content-type. In principle this includes the max/exactsize attributes. I wont promise what will be included in the first version of gallery_content. Once the basic module stands there are many features to be added subsequently. But I'm pretty sure the module will be popular and therefore grow adult quite fast.

Sure. Maybe you should wait for the first version to be available for testing!? But that's up to you ...
