Editing items in left hand block

Hello

sorry for this novice question but I feel overwhelmed with information - and cannot seem to find what I am looking for.

I am trying to remove items which automatically appear in the left-hand column of gallery 2.2.3. such as "Add Album to Cart" or "Mount with WebDAV". How do I go about removing them?

Also how do i remove information about albums/items such as "Owner" or "Size".

Gallery is such a complete system that I feel there must be some simple way of doing this without hacking the theme.
