hi again, :) dose anybody know a way of using wpg, wordpress, and gallery2. so that The pictures used in wordpress's 'protected pages' posts work, but can't be seen when you hit the wpg link the 'unprotected part', or the gallery2 install itself, but will still be seen on the password 'protected pages'. obviusly I'd still want to be able to use wpg in the unprotected parts of my blog too :)

Sorry but I am not familiar with that plugin but you can do the same thing a number of different ways using standard Gallery2 functionality.

A) Restrict guest access to view albums, that way only logged in users will have view access to Albums you want Restricted.
B) Use Password Protect Gallery2 Plugin to password Protect the Albums you do not want others to view..

Hope this helps..

hi ozgreg,
I understand that, but I'm using my gallerys through wordpress using 'wpg2' (its why i posted here ;) in the wpg2 section )
see I need/ would like, to be able to use pictures from my gallery in the 'restricted posts' in wordpress, without them being visable in the main section of the blog

and i was hoping to not have my user's to have to jump through too many hoops to do so

I'm not familiar with "protected pages" either. What plugin/feature are you using to protect them?

hi kirk,
probobly my bad explanation skills :)
when you 'create or edit' a 'post or page' In wordpress, you can also enter a 'page or post' password on the right hand side of the editor.
no plugin is required, its a builtin function of wordpress. If you do this, then anybody who views that 'page or post', has to enter a password. to view it, and the title of the 'page or post' then has the word Protected: infront of it :) when viewed

So the password protected posts are showing wpg2 content, but non-password-protected ones aren't?

What happens if you just go to your wpg2 page?

lol :) , no its sorta the other way around, any pictures used in the password protected pages or posts work fine, however thay will also show up In the wordpress wpg2 gallery page, which is unprotected, not so fine :(

now , if I password protect the album in gallery2 that im using for the password protected pages in wordpress, It dosn't show up on the gallery page which is ok :) , but thay won't show up in the wordpress password protected pages either which isn't :(

Basicly im looking for a way to be able to use pictures in both password and non password protected pages/posts in wordpress and use the wpg page, but keep the pictures that are used in the password protected pages/posts from being viewed in other parts of my blog, like the wpg gallery

whilst trying to keep user interaction to a mimimum :)

In summary, you want on successful authentication, the password used to access the Wordpress Post to be also passed along to Gallery2 Password Protect Module.

Is that right, then the answer is WPG2 does not support this, interesting concept however, not sure how hard this would be to implement..

Funny enough it could be as simple as adding a three lines of code, I will have a very quick attempt in the next few days (I cannot spend a lot of time on this) and see if I can find if the password in a Wordpress post is accessible so we can pass on the same WP Password into G2..
