cookies and where they go

It has become painfully obvious that your cookie management either does not work or is impossible to understand.

Very simple I go into gallery2 the cookie is created (which is great) I exit gallery 2 the cookie is destroyed WHY?

What am i doing wrong.

I understand about what you like to call loose coupling and it makes sense but I do not understand why they cookie gets destroyed.

Maybe I am making a mistake in using the embedded functionality.

I am truly at a loss for what is going on.
