I have dealt with the dreaded Platform Error when migrating my gallery as part of my webhost changing my server. It was awful, but with help from this support forum, and with a backup I made of my gallery prior to migrating, and with a lot of patience from my web host, I got things fixed.
Now sometime in the past week, I started getting it again.
This time, nothing was changed on my part. I'd not so much as uploaded a photo to my gallery in more than a month. I checked it a week ago and it was working. Now it's not. I know that the FAQs say that "the filesystem permissions for your G2 storage folder (usually 'g2data') are incorrect." How could they change in the past week?
I have a support ticket written now with my web host. But this is going to be interesting. Last thing in the world I wanted to be doing this Christmas season was debugging Gallery, especially when none of this is my fault!
Anyway, wondering if anyone else just suddenly got the "platform failure" error not in conjunction with a new installation, or an upgrade, or a server migration, and what the ultimate resolution was.
And no, shame on me, I do not have a 100% complete backup of my gallery.

lib/support/ -> filesystem permissions might help.
this and more is mentioned at:
FAQ: I get a ERROR_PLATFORM_FAILURE, what should I do?

Minutes after I'd made my original post, my web host tech support replied to the ticket I'd opened. They'd installed a php upgrade and messed up my file permissions. They changed them back, without my explicitly asking, and problem is solved.
Thanks.
