You know, I love Gallery, have donated to the project and ran Gallery on my shared hosting for years.
But at some point I was fed up with the slowness of the hosting and wasn't willing to pay up for good hosting, so I decided to go with the Image hosting Service SmugMug.
Now getting my pictures (abotu 10k) to them with titles wasn't easy, so I ended up hacking together a perl script that will run on the linux server gallery2 runs on and upload an entire directory of images to SmugMug, looking up the titles directly from the mysql DB.
I'm sure all of this could have been done much more elegantly, but here it is:

If I am allowed the criticism: Export/Backup is the only big shortcoming of Gallery2 I'm aware of...
