Showing WP widgets in Gallery2 sidebar

There are options to show gallery items in the wp-sidebar, but how about the other way around?

Is there a way to show WP widgets in the gallery sidebar? eg. latest wp-posts or wp-categories
Or is there another way to do this, not using widgets?

As I see it in general the WPG2 plugin is a way to integrate gallery in wordpress but not the ather way around. Is that correct?

Technically this might be possible through a fair amount of development work but it is way outside of WPG2 plugin role which is designed to add Gallery2 to Wordpress, not bring Wordpress to Gallery2..

It might be easier to do this if you use one of the WP themes that utilizes the footer and/or the header to display some widgets. I haven't tried this yet myself, but it seems like it could work...
