I'm trying to migrate from Gallery1 to 2 but have run into problems as I don't seem to have either an albumsdb.dat or userdb.dat file. I solved the albumsdb.dat problem by creating it manually using the php serialise function following some instructions I found on this forum. However I have no idea how to do the same for the missing userdb.dat.

I don't understand why I don't have either of these files in either my Gallery2 or Gallery1 installations. The hosting provider is dreamhost.com and I'm using MySQL as the database backend.

It looks like you got zenphoto working fine there. I think that the thing stopping you from getting any support was your entirely non-functional G1.

Yeah I gave up on Gallery - Zenphoto seems much simpler since I only need the basic photo gallery+description functionality. To anyone reading this thread whose hosted on Dreamhost I'd recommend avoiding their one-click installs as they seem to do some funny things. I couldn't get their Zenphoto one-click install to work either - ended up uninstalling it then installing Zenphoto manually according to the instructions on their site.
