Hi!

I just upgraded from WP 2.2/WPG2 3.0 RC FINAL to WP 2.3.2 and WPG2 3.0.2. Sadly, I encountered some problems.

1) Think that the WPG2/G2Image button is gone (or is it the one on top that I circled)? It allow me to explore the Gallery2 Library using thumbnails... I've tried to refresh my browser (FF 2.0.0.9) using Ctrl-F5.

2) Pictures from the Gallery2 are no longer shown in the visual editor. Instead the "<WPG2> IMAGE" image shows. The correct image are, however, shown in the published blog post.

Can truly use some advice on this matter.

Kind regards,
Jimisola

Hiya jimisola,

Looking at that screen print, it appears you are using some plugin to modify your tinymce toolbar and most likely this plugin is stopping the WPG2 from adding the required button for G2 Image, try deactiving this plugin and for a refresh.

WPG2 images do not show in Edit Posts (only show in Write Post), this is due to the way Wordpress Editor works and the lack of hooks to be able to access the Gallery2 images prior to editor loading..

Hi!

Doubt that I have a plugin that changes the tinymce toolbar. WP 2.3 however "Advanced Visual Editor Buttons" for TinyMCE (see http://codex.wordpress.org/Version_2.3).
But, just to be sure I deactivated ALL my plugins except for WPG2 and I also changed theme to the default one shipped with WP.

I've tried to see if the editor is shows the WPG2 G2Image button in the editor toolbar but it does not.

Let me know how I provide you with more information to narrow this down.

Regards,
Jimisola

Did you do a Ctrl-F5 after you deactivated the other plugins (in the Write Post Screen)?? In the Write Post Screen, if you switch to CODE (by clicking on the code tab) do you see a button called WPG2? Does clicking that button work??

Did a Ctrl-F5 before deactivation and after - no change.

Did not, however, switch to code mode... The WPG2 button is there and it works!

Hope this helps to circle in on why it does not show in the visual editor.

Yeah it means you are getting more into Kirk's territory as the button is not working.. He been away for a while so I am not sure if he has seen this thread. I remember seeing a long thread before about debugging the button issues, when I have had issues with the button I use the Firefox extension Firebug and see if it is reporting any errors..

Might be the next thing to try..

I use Firebug as well. Should have mentioned that I checked that initially. Firebug reports green and, hence, no errors.

Hopefully Kirk will catch up on this thread. I'll be happy to provide more information upon request.

Jimisola,

The WPG2 button on the "Code" view is generated by javascript appended to the footer of the page. It's good to see that it is working.

The G2Image button in the "Visual Editor" (TinyMCE) is generated by adding a filter to the WordPress-specific version of TinyMCE. As Ozgreg said, the most common reasons for not seeing the button are due to the browser cache being stuck on the non-filtered version of TinyMCE and another plugin modifying TinyMCE. Since you've done several refreshes and are not using any other plugins, it looks like those two are out. One last thing to try, though, is using a second computer to verify that it's really not your cache.

Assuming the second computer shows the same problem, was this an upgrade from a previous version of WPG2? If so, did you delete the old files? Especially any G2Image files in the wp-includes/ directory tree?

If all of that leads to nothing, could you make me a temporary admin account so that I can see what it's doing and look at what scripts it's appending to the page? If that works, please PM me with the login info.

Kirk

Hi Kirk,

I hope that it's not me missing something trivial and causing you cause all this trouble.

Anyway, I tried on another computer with both IE7 and FF. As well as IE7 on the original computer. I upgraded from a previous version of WPG2 (3.0 RC FINAL) and the WPG2 folder was removed.
I'm quite certain that the G2Image files under wp-includes have been removed (when installing 3.0 RC FINAL) unless I forgot something there. I went through it now again and there is nothing that caught my attention. I followed the upgrade instructions and it points out the directory to look for (if you want me to look closer - please let me know).

I have the exact same problem. I can see the 'WPG2' button in the code editor but nothing on the visual editor. I'm running WP 2.3.3, Gallery 2.2.4 and WPG2 3.0.2. I've tried deactivating all WP plugins except for WPG2 and running it on FF & IE6 with the cache cleared. Also tried on several different computers. But still no g2image chooser button shown.

ckjong: What theme do you use (I use Freshy 2)? Have you tried with the default?
