I have spent the day reading the forums, docs, and faqs, but am having trouble using Import->Gallery 1 to migrate some albums from G1 into G2. I'm getting the following error from Import->Gallery 1: "The path that you entered is invalid."

I am using the albumDir that is listed in my g1 config.php, "/sites/www.horie.us/web/albums", (which the path field autocompletes correctly in the import module, BTW). Pressing select gets the error "The path that you entered is invalid."

I've reffered to http://codex.gallery2.org/Gallery2:migration, and checked my G1 installation by uploading a test image. It seemed to work fine, except that the thumbnail was not created. Find orphans and validate albums did not return errors.

I am also having trouble configuring then URL rewrite module.
Under Setup->Apache mod_rewrite, automatic detection does not find mod_rewrite. When I try to run the tests manually , I get a "Forbidden. You do not have permission to access the requested file on this server" message. I do not have admin access to the apache server. From post http://gallery.menalto.com/node/39351 , I checked my info.php
and can see that there are no values in open_basedir, although I am not familiar with what this indicates.

I do not know if mod_rewrite is causing the problem, and I am not sure exactly what should appear in the G1 and G2 .htaccess files. I was wondering if it is possible to use the PHP Path Info method instead of Apache mod_rewrite, although I also do not know how to configure it correctly. Any detailed suggestions on properly configuring either methds would be most appreciated.

thanks,
Chris

"It seemed to work fine, except that the thumbnail was not created"

Fix that first.

UPDATE: The website administrator recently performed some maintenance, although on what applications, I am not sure. Migration seems to be working fine now. I do not know what the original cause was, but I am happy to be using Gallery 2 again. Thanks jmullen for your response.
