WPG2 URL Rewrite Not Working

I am using Wordpress 2.3.1 with WPG2 3.0.1 I can't seem to activate URL Rewrite at the moment.

My URL Rewrite is working for gallery in standalone mode. If I activate the rewrite in WPG2, the rewritten URL will just redirect to the main gallery page. eg. http://mydomain.com/v/album will just stop at http://mydomain.com/wpg2. Even clicking at the album icons will not work. And it seems WPG2 rewrite will turn gallery2 rewrite off as well

All my settings seems ok. (Pls refer attachment)

My WPG2 URL is at Click me!

I will enable the rewrite if you need to test it. Right now it's off.

Appreciate any help to solve this. Thanks.

WPG2 will turn off Gallery2 rewrites by design until you have set the Gallery2 Rewrite Plugin to On (Please see the manual also about this)

We cannot guarantee rewrites will work for all hosting environments, (hence why we put a nice big warning down the bottom of the screen). We would love to but experience tells us that hosting firms regularly come up with creative account solutions that break rewrites.

Unfortunately , what you are describing is pretty classical rewrite problems, sometimes this issue can be solved by visiting the Dashboard -> options -> permalink tab and selecting update permalink structure but mostly it simply means something in your hosting environment is preventing the Gallery2 rewrite plugin from operating as per it's design..

Hi, previously the rewrite is working.. then all of a sudden, it broke down.. I didn't change anything at all..

I remember b4 this if I use the rewrite, the URL will be http://mydomain.com/v/album but now if I turn on rewrite, the URL becomes http://mydomain.com/wpg2/v/album.

Can that be the cause? the extra "wpg2" at the URL part.. but I do not know how to correct it.

Also, now I found out that if I turn on rewrite in gallery but off in wpg2, the URL in wpg2 will still be the rewritten form..

I would expect the /wpg2 in the path because that is the page the rewrite would be pointing to (being your WPG2 page). Your last post gave me a clue, you did not tell me it was working previously but stopped. Usually this equals, your hosting firm has done something creative like upgrading apache etc..

You can try this just incase your .htaccess files have gotten strange (it happens some times). Turn off both the Gallery2 rewrites and Wordpress Permalinks, remove BOTH the .htaccess files in your wordpress and Gallery2 directory. Then turn back on the Wordpress Permalinks and Gallery2 rewrite plugin. This should force the regeneration of the rules and maybe also with luck fix your issue..

Did some experiments. Turned off all permalinks and rewrites (WP+Gallery2+WPG2) and deleted .htaccess as you asked.

(1)
Turned on rewrite in Gallery2 but off in wpg2 admin. Gallery2's URL Rewrite Administration, Embedded setup defaults to http://mydomain.com/ edited to http://mydomain.com/wpg2

Now I can browse the albums in wpg2 gallery view using http://mydomain.com/wpg2/v/albums . Even sub-albums also can. But when comes to photos, it gives some error message. (Attached)

If embedded setup is left at http://mydomain.com Same problem as first post, it will return to main gallery page.

(2)
Turned on rewrite in both Gallery2 and wpg2. Same above as in first post. Clicking on album will stuck at main gallery page. Check the Embedded setup, it returns to http://mydomain.com/

(3)
Turned on in WPG2. Didn't touch anything in Gallery2. Same as (2)
