Good Morning everyone,
I am hoping that someone would be willing to help me with a small problem, I recently setup my gallery and everything appears to working great except for some reason I can not get the email portion working, the following is what is requested along with what I have
entered:
Use non-local SMTP server: Yes
SMTP server: mail.majesticvacations.net
Sender hostname: localhost (this one I actually a little confused on)
SMTP Port: 25
SMTP Account Name: (My account name)
SMTP Passwork: (My password)
When I complete everything I have noticed that it will show up on the last screen of the config wizard however when I look at PHP info page it does not show any of my email settings.
Any ideas?
Thanks again for your help,
Ron

Hello Ron,
can you explain again/more detailed what does not work?
Or where does an error occur?

Jens,
Sure, I am trying to set-up my gallery so that members will be able to sign themselves up, in the general settings under "Email & Registration" there are the following settings to set-up my email:
...
User non-local SMTP server (yes)
SMTP Server (mail.majesticvacations.net)
Sender Hostname *see below
SMTP Port (25)
SMTP Accountname (my account name)
SMTP Password (my password)
* To be honest I am not sure what exactly I should be putting here, I have tried several things including localhost, mail.majesticvacations.net, majesticvacations.ipower.com, etc. The instructions for this part has the following "The full hostname of the server you are sending the mail from (The Server where your Gallery is installed on). If your Server is behind a NAT, this would be the DNS name of your router"...
When I go to test my email from config I don't receive anything, if I sign-out and try to create a new account I receive the message "email could not be sent please contact the administrator".
After going through all of the steps the last page shows me a text review of all my settings, on this page I can see my mail server, etc. Know if I go to my diagnostic page under PHP info my email settings are not showing up.
I am sorry if this is confusing, I can explain a little bit more if you need me to.

Hi Ron,
lets start at the first setting.
The Server where your Gallery is running on has no mailserver? So you MUST use SMTP?

No, no everyhing is fine.
Maybe you just choosed smtp for no reason.
Your smtp server 'mail.majesticvacations.net' seems okay. The server must accept mails from your server and your maildomain.
Sender Hostname: Figure out what the so called FQDN of the server is, where your Gallery runs on.
e.g. for my server its 'rudi9.peino.de'.
localhost, or the hostname of your smtp-server is wrong ;-)
