Embedded Gallery2 RSS feeds with Angsuman's Authenticated WordPress Plugin

I am using WPG2 3.0.2 embedded into Wordpress 2.5 for a 100% private blog with access control provided by Angsuman's Authenticated WordPress Plugin. I am happy with how everything is working and locked down as this is a family photo blog. However, I am trying to display the 'latest comments' from Gallery2 in my K2-theme sidebar. I decided the easiest way to do this was to use the Gallery2 RSS feed for the latest comments and display that feed on the themes sidebar. The RSS feed displays in the wordpress sidebar if I turn off the authentication plugin, but not if the plugin is activated. It seems that the Wordpress does not recognise the RSS feed as being part of the embedded Gallery2 - so while images etc from Gallery2 are displayed quite happily, the RSS feed is not. What do I need to do to display Gallery2 latest comments in Wordpress, or what do I need to do to get the Gallery2 RSS feed to display in Wordpress when the Angsuman Authenticated WordPress plugin is active? Gallery2 RSS Feeds are not piped through WPG2 thus why the links in Gallery2 point directly to Gallery2 not via the WPG2 plugin. I have opened a feature request against the 3.1 Milestone which has been pushed back until later this year thanks to WP 2.5 changes..
