D6 2.3svn G2 fail to embed

Used gallery-nightly.tar.gz and drupal.tar.gz on 04-02-08 from rabinovich.org site. Drupal 6.1 installed by Fantastico in cPanel.

Cannot get gallery to show in Admin > Site Building > Modules of Drupal program.

Tried to follow instructions posted at this thread http://gallery.menalto.com/node/75482 and get lost when told to "Config and Enable URL Rewrite with apache setting." Assuming the three program components I am using are compatible, how do I proceed? Thank you.
