Although I think Gallery is the best in its class, the G2Image package that allows selection of images to be added to CMS post is not that good. Simply stated, the G2Image package is suffering from feature creep! All it really needs to do is allow for selection of images from the Gallery database. All your work should be spent on updating the UI.

Since I'm doing this totally as a hobby when I can squeeze it in, I think that all of my work should be spent doing what I feel like.
Feel free to fork it if you like. That's the beauty of the GPL...
(OK, I'm really not as snide as my first reaction. The fact is that most of the features have arisen from user requests. But the real bottom line is that it's my project and my copyright, but it's also GPL. So, anyone is free to take it in a different direction, so long as you call it something else when you fork it. Open source is not a competition. It's a way for the community to develop free and open software that meets everyone's needs. If it doesn't meet your specific need, then take it where you want it to go. That's how I got here. There was no plugin that allowed visual selection of images in Gallery, so I forked an image selector that worked in Wordpress alone and made it work with Gallery2. Now, I'm working on making it work with more CMSs and more galleries like Flickr, Picasa, and the like. If you don't want it to work with the others, then you can disable that part or fork the software. More people have requested the functionality than have requested simplicity. And more importantly, I want to be able to easily do that on my website, so I'm programming it whether anyone else wants it or not...)

I have nothing valuable to contribute to this thread so feel free to ignore this post.
I love this thing. I like G2 and only hated I could not integrate easily into my posts my pictures. Additionally, I love bells and whistles. So the more the better.
Thank you for your development and your time. More importantly, thanks for sharing with the rest of us.

Whilst I think that Todd came across badly (I mean, G2IC could hardly be described as "not that good") I think he has a bit of a point. I find that the left pane with the album list is way too thin, so the album names overwrite the rest of the UI.
I also have another thread about some improvements I would like to see (supporting other image handlers and maybe a tweak to to the div setting) and all of this stuff I feel should have a place in this version of G2IC. Why fork? Who needs a million different versions? I for one just don't have the time or ability to maintain my own fork, but I think I would be quite capable of contributing code snippets and / or design ideas.
So... if people are willing to submit improvements, would you be willing to include them?
