Hi all,
I've done a fair bit of testing on this and i'm sure there must be other people who have tried to add images to WP posts with the g2image editor under IE - but this issue seems to be completely re-producable no matter what, although I see no other reports of it on these boards.
Under IE6 or IE7, trying to browse the g2image dialog whilst using the tinymce 'visual' editor mode seems to break pretty horribly. When trying to browse through the various sub-albums in Gallery via g2image, clicking any of them to open them up and select an image opens up a new browser window rather than opening the album within the g2image window like it should. It is possible to browse and insert images in the resultant window, but 1: It's clearly not intended behaviour 2: Inserting an image results in the standard 'a web page is trying to close this window' alert that the javascript window close will trigger and 3: It leaves the original orphaned g2image window open and abandoned.
I originally assumed, due to the absence of anyone else ever seeming to have reported this that it must have been somehow caused by my upgrade of Wordpress, Gallery and WPG2 from $old ones to latest - but i've since installed a totally clean and default instance of all three as a test site, and the problem still persists. To me, that means it's either an issue with WPG2 / TinyMCE or a platform issue of some kind.
The issue only exists under IE - FireFox seems to cope just fine. It also only occurs when using the WP 'Visual' editor. Switching to what WP calls the 'HTML' mode works just fine. I'm running Wordpress 2.5.1, Gallery 2.2.2 and WPG2 3.0.6. If anyone has any ideas, they would be appreciated. If this is un-reproducable then I guess that leaves a platform issue of some kind - but quite what it might be i've no idea - as the issue looks javascript related to me.
Many thanks in advance!
Giles.
