Picking up usernames from PostNuke

Just installed Gallery 1.3.1 on Postnuke 0.7.3.1 and noticed that it only gets the username for the admin (myself) but does not get the username for anyone else. I sure would like my users to have the ability to add their own albums using their Postnuke account. Is there a fix for this?

I haven't tested Gallery on PostNuke 0.7.3.x Can you provide a URL to your Gallery so that I can check out how it operates in that environment?

hello Jimbo hello all,

thanks for bringing up this important issue! I solved my private loggin problem last night! Now i am able to login and to change the passwd.-

However - the issues with the user-names in PostNuke is a valid point!

It looks like Gallery is operating properly as a module in this environment. Can you explain what you mean by this:

When you click the [permissions] dialog in an album, you should see a list of all of your PostNuke users. Is that not the case?

I guess it's about the fact that when a member is logged in and doesn't have the adm rights he is unable to create his own gallery. Only viewing is possible. It's not a problem when a site has a few users, the administrator can always add these members to the gallery administration. But it's a problem with sites where many users become members in a fast pace. There the automation should be in place.

PostNuke users cannot create nested albums at the top level. However they can create nested albums one level down. Just create a new album at the top, edit its permissions and give the LOGGEDIN user privileges to created sub-albums and then your users will be able to go to that album and create their own albums underneath it.

I had the similar or same problem and posted my question in a different forum. I get a message on the top left side "Problem obtaining user information". Has this been resolved? I have delayed the launch of my website and would really like to find an answer.

I am using PostNuke .0721. I also have a post in the PostNuke/PHP forum. I really need some help.

Can you show me a link to your page where you're seeing this problem? I haven't heard of this issue happening before.

Gallery 1.3.1 works properly with PostNuke .72; it uses the PostNuke user database for all Gallery operations.

Thank you for the reply. After your comment about PN .72 working ok, I reinstalled from scratch for a third time. It seems that it only happens with my original admin username. I changed to another admin name and everthing seems to be ok.

I think I figured it out! I just changed the admin account to another name and viola, no more message. :lol:

That's wacky. The error message you were seeing comes directly from PostNuke (I found it in their code base) in a function that we don't call directly or indirectly, so it's probably a PostNuke issue.
