Sorry, I know I'm operating an old gallery version, but I'm running a gallery for an online group and we have thousands of photos in there--too much to back up, even. So I'm kinda stuck with this one. Just recently the gallery has become completely unstable, and we keep on getting similar messages: Error: Could not acquire lock (/home/users/web/b2312/sl.orientalstampart/public_html/v-web/gallery/albums/08PennyBlackSwap/photos.dat.lock)!Error: Could not acquire lock (/home/users/web/b2312/sl.orientalstampart/public_html/v-web/gallery/albums/08PennyBlackSwap/album.dat.lock)! Our base gallery url is http://www.orientalstampart.com/v-web/gallery/ Can anybody tell me what's going on? Thanks so much in advance for any light you can shed on the situation... Gallery version (not just "2"): 1.3.4 |

FAQ: I suddenly got an "ERROR_LOCK_TIMEOUT" message, what do I do?
Moving from G2 support to G1

Sorry, that's not the message we're getting -- and it's happening to multiple users, not just one user. There's no timeout going on. Any further ideas?

Sorry gave you a G2 faq but this one should do the trick:

Well... (thousands of albi later)...
I set everything (including the .dat files and the .lock) to 777... and I'm still getting the same type of error message:
Error: Could not acquire lock (/home/users/web/b2312/sl.orientalstampart/public_html/v-web/gallery/albums/SwapGallery/photos.dat.lock)!Error: Could not acquire lock (/home/users/web/b2312/sl.orientalstampart/public_html/v-web/gallery/albums/SwapGallery/album.dat.lock)!

Ok, we're still getting the same error message, now a week later, and our hosting service is incapable of fixing this. They have all files set to 755 -- are the album.dat, album.dat.bak, and album.dat.lock also supposed to be set at that?
We're considering switching hosting services, and I have a couple of questions on how to migrate our current stuff to a Gallery 2 system. a) how do we do that (heh), and b) what's the photo number limit before the gallery starts crashing? I'm wondering if current problems aren't due to the fact that we have an enormous amount of photos in there...
If anybody could help, I'd be sooooooooooooooooo grateful!
Thanks,
Heather
