Ideas for navigating around G2 please

Just installed G2 without problems once I'd checked out G2's requirements. An amazing number of features and modules. Well done team.

Although I have yet to begin customising the look of my gallery, I am wondering about the ease of navigating around the program for prospective users or maybe it's because I 'just haven't found that page yet'.

I'm interested in all kinds of garden design and garden build.
Here's what I want my gallery to do:
I want people to register and create their own portfolio of photographs showing the 'muddywellies' side of their own garden construction. Then for each user to be able to browse other user albums to obtain and exchange more ideas. There could be hundreds of registered users.
The problem.
How to create a suitable means for each user to navigate between the albums of other users without a massive list that takes over the whole page and then some.

In the first instance I'd really appreciate it if anyone could 'point me towards the right page'. Or save me time and tell me G2 is not the right program for what I intend. . . . . I'm interested to hear what others have to say.
