Making wrench in slider theme default to open?

I love the theme, but clicking on the wrench to open the navigation menu is not intuitive. I'd rather not need to give instructions to my viewers on how to navigate my site. Does anyone know how to default that thing open, so that when a person first views the page it is open already?

This is my first post here, but these forums have helped me immensely as I've been setting up my first webserver/gallery2 gallery. Thanks for any help you can provide, and I'm sorry if this has been covered before. I couldn't find anything on it by searching.
