Invalid Albums message - albums orphaned.

The following information is required to get an answer:
Get this information from the PHP diagnostic (in the configuration wizard).
Gallery URL (optional but very useful): http://www.384thbombgroup.com/gallery/
Gallery version: Powered by Gallery v1.4.4-pl2
Apache version: 2.0.61
PHP version (don't just say PHP 4, please): 4.4.8
Graphics Toolkit: ImageMagick
Operating system: Linux slash 2.6.24.2-grsec-p4-peon-1.1.2-grsec #1 SMP Wed Feb 20 15:30:29 PST 2008 i686
Web browser/version (if applicable): Firefox 3.0.3

Just started getting this message on evening of 6 October 2008:

Gallery has detected the following 8 invalid album(s) in your albums directory

Please move it/them out of the albums directory.

Looks like the top-level albums (except one) and some of the second-level albums are the ones listed. I will have to rebuild the hierarchical structure of the albums, but would like to know what I might be able to do to resurrect the albums listed - I already went ahead and found all the "orphan" albums and linked them back to the main album.

Hello f3

the message appears when albums.dat and/or are missing in the folder for a specific album.
Are there any backups or .1 .2 .3 ... files?
