The following information is required to get an answer:
Get this information from the PHP diagnostic (in the configuration wizard).
Gallery URL (optional but very useful):www.geofffox.com/gallery
Gallery version:1.41
Apachae version:l1.3.41 (Unlix)
PHP version (don't just say PHP 4, please):4.4.9
Graphics Toolkit:
Operating system:Linux 2.6.19.7-opteron-v5-p1-hugemem
Web browser/version (if applicable):

This is a very old install of Gallery. It was stable and I haven't added anything in a long time. It is still linked from other sites and I wish to leave it 'as was'.

Recently my site was hacked (not through Gallery) and ALL my .htaccess files were blown out and replaced. I have restored Gallery using configuration, however my files are now at different, longer urls. This: http://www.geofffox.com/gallery/view_album.php?set_albumName=album10 used to be: www.geofffox.com/gallery/album10

There is a new .htaccess file in my gallery root, but it contains nothing useful. I did insert a blank .htaccess file before configuring and chmodded it 777.

# BEGIN Gallery section
# (Automatically generated. Do no edit this section)
# Note: still under development, so format may change.
# If you edit this file, make a backup before runnng the Config. Wizard.

# END Gallery section. Add User changes below this line

I'm not sure if there should be, but there's not .htaccess in the setup directory.

I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

Hello,

if your Apache has mod_rewrite installed, the .htaccess in your Gallery mainfolder will contain the necessary redirect rules after running the config wizard again.
The setting for using this feature should also be enabled in config.php after that.

.htaccess in setup is used to determ whether mod_rewrite can be used or not. Reupload the .htaccess from your (or just a) Gallery distribution.

Thanks Jens. I pulled the .htaccess file from 1.5.9 and put it in the setup directory. Perfect!
