Hello all,

I have a website for a friend of mine who uploads a lot of pictures. She uploaded ~4500 images into Gallery2 (which seemed to work fine) but the next day she looked at the public facing website (Drupal with the Gallery2 integration module) and received an error that looks like this:

user warning: MySQL server has gone away query: UPDATE cache SET data = 'a:4662:{i:0;a:6:{s:4:\"path\";s:12:\"gallery/6787\";s:8:\"callback\";s:18:\"gallery_menu_album\";s:18:\"callback arguments\";a:1:{i:0;i:6787;}s:5:\"title\";s:19:\"West Texas Futurity\";s:6:\"access\";b:1;s:4:\"type\";i:6;}i:1;a:6:{s:4:\"path\";s:17:\"gallery/6787/6789

This error message goes on and on and on and on for EVER... it looks like it lists every gallery inside of Gallery2.

As far as I know nothing changed, there were no updates run, MySQL wasnt updated, nor PHP, nor Drupal, nor Gallery2 or the Gallery2 module.

If I delete the Gallery2 Integration module from the Drupal modules directory the site experiences no errors, and responds pretty quickly to requests. If I have the Gallery2 Integration Module folder in the Drupal module directory I get the errors above (a ton of them) and the site seems to run REALLY slow and sluggishly.

I tried upgrading the G2/Drupal Integration Module to the latest version, and then ran update.php but that didnt seem to help. I'm now trying to delete the Gallery she created to see if something in there is causing the issue...I hope it works...there are so many images a lot of the time the site will time out before it actually finishes :( There's just too many images!

Does anyone have any suggestions, ideas, etc. I've researched this error message on Google and it seems as though is a pretty generic error just saying that MySQL didnt respond in a timely fashion. Peopl have suggested many different fixes, all of which seem unnecessary considering this was working great until a few days ago and it all started after she uploaded the images. Also, since removing the G2/Drupal Integration Module directory seems to 'fix' it...I decided to come here and beg for help first.

Please.. I'm at the end of my rope... I'm not sure what else to try (The gallery she uploaded is STILL deleting... if it finishes I'll post results here).

Thanks so much for any help you can give.

OK... Deleting the gallery she made and images she uploaded seems to have worked... The errors went away, G2 Integration with Drupal seems to have returned back to the way it was...

Does anyone have ANY idea what happened so I can try to prevent this in the future!?! Is the G2 Integration Module not written to handle this many galleries or images or something!? Is the site too big... or too slow... or? I'm at a loss... I thought letting her upload images and making galleries was pretty 'safe' for her to do but apparently she cant really screw up the site that way! hahaha

Any ideas would be appreciated...
