I seem to be having a brain freeze trying to muddle through all the documentation of installing or upgrading Gallery to my site. I have Gallery v1.5 and I cannot upload pictures to the site. I can only assume I need to upgrade. Can anyone give me any advice?

In order to migrate to G2 you need to have a operational G1.
Seems you need to fix that first.
More info than "I cannot upload pictures" would be helpfull:

what does this error message mean?

Error: use_jpegtran: /usr/local/bin/jpegtran must be a valid file (not a directory)!

When doing what?
Do you have a operational G1?
Have you installed G2 and are wanting to migrate to G2?
What setps have you done and where are you at?

I am all over the place just trying to figure out why I can't upload pictures - here is what I've done so far. I am thinking of unistalling G1 but know I will lose all my folders/albums and pictures but I can't figure this out there is so much information to read through

1. Backed up all my files to my hard drive out of the gallery
2. When I look at my files on my web site the Gallery Directory is green - I've never seen that before in addition to the directory being green two files under that are green gallery_remote.php and gallery_remote2.php
3. My original problem before I tried to figure this out was - Resizing/compressing original image No resizing required
Error: Unable to make thumbnail (0)
4. I started looking around and thought perhaps I need to upgrade I am version Gallery v1.5-RC2
5. You said I need to have a functional G1 before I migrate to G2 but I can't figure out how to fix the Error: Unable to make thumbnail problem

Can someone please please please tell me in n00b-language the step-by-step process for installing and running gimmie? I'm using the advanced desktop on the default Xandros. I've had my Eee since June but still don't really know much about Linux.
