hi,

i'm installing the latest gallery1 version. it found netpbm on my hosts server (in "/usr/bin" which i cant access by ftp), but says one binary is missing. i have d/loaded the set of binaries, & uploaded them to my site, but there's no where in the setup pages to specify the path to netpbm!

i'm sure i remember doing it years ago with older versions of gallery, but there seems no way to do it now. can anyone tell me how can i tell gallery1 where the binaruies are, so's it can complete installation?

thanks

Hello,

This is done in step 2 of the setup assistant.
Choose Netpbm as Toolkit and set the path.

thanks for the reply, jens!
that's what i thought, too! i remember doing exactly that in older versions of gallery1, but there's no option to choose the path to netpbm when i run the setup wizard of the latest version. i ran it several times cos i thought i must have missed the option some how, but its not there!

i'm guessing that gallery1 doesnt open that "choice box" if it has already located netpbm on the server? unfortunately, its located an incomplete set of binaries, & i cant find/access them on the server to update thhem! its catch 22!

edit: i've attached a screen shot of the relevant page

You're guessing wrong.

Something with your installation, or your browser is wrong.

If you want, i could give you an account to my Gallery, to show you.

IGNORE MSG BELOW - i have solved it!! -the page opens with netpbm already selected in the box, but no box for path to netpbm - if you click on the netpbm box & coose "netpbm" nothing changes- but if you select imagemagick that then opens the "pathto" box - you can then re-select netpbm & you still have the pathto box available -phew!
thanks for your attempts to help me - i appreciate it!

chris

yes please, if it isnt too much trouble.

i've tried it in firefox & IE & i get the same result.

i originally had a working gallery installed (its a high school in the uk), but the hosts got hacked & they deleted all "index" files- i managed to replace index.php from a backup, but i couldnt get login to work so i'm updating with the latest gall1 version to hopefully fix it.

all seemed to be going well except for no option to specify path to netpbm!

thanks
chris

Don't know whats going on.

If it does not work here: http://jems.de/gallery-legacy
with

then you have a browser problem.
If it does work, then you have a Gallery Problem ;-)

Your "solution" is a workaround in my eyes.
