Hi,

Currently have a Windows 2000 Server running gallery with IIS. Works great. Its specs from Gallery are as follows:

Gallery version = 2.0.2 core 1.0.0.2
PHP version = 4.3.8 cgi-fcgi
Webserver = Microsoft-IIS/5.0
Database = mysql 4.1.16-nt
Toolkits = Exif, ImageMagick, Ffmpeg
Operating system = Windows NT COLOSSUS 5.0 build 2195
Browser = Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0)

Date: 12/30/05
Owner: Gallery Administrator
Size: 8 items (15349 items total)

Now I have another Brand new windows 2008 Server with no Gallery components on it. I know I need to install Mysql, PHP, Etc, but how to do I go about getting the newest gallery on it with all my data and pictures? I read in the restore document that "If you have a complete backup (database, g2data folder, gallery2 folder including config.php), then just put those things back in place and make sure the webserver user has write permissions on the g2data folder " then once thats done do an upgrade to the newest version. Any tips/help to make this work? Thanks!

first tip: keep up with the times :-)
It is almost 2009!

Anyway on the old server upgrade to g2.3, pay attention to the first step ( backup )
once that is working;
install 2.3 on the new server and:
FAQ: How can I move my gallery installation from one server to another?

Dave
