I haven't tried to work with my Gallery (http://www.linkmeister.com/gallery) for quite a while, since I've been using Flickr. But I've upgraded to a new host with a huge amount of space for very little additional cost, so I thought I'd upgrade to v1.5.10 from the Gallery I've got, which is v1.4.4-pl6. I'm using Vista and Firefox. After scrambling around I found my login info and successfully signed in, but when I click on the config wizard link I get the following: Quote:
Warning: Unknown: failed to open stream: Permission denied in Unknown on line 0 Um, if I can't get into the config, it looks like I'm pretty much dead in the water. Does anyone know what's going on here and how I can correct it? I can't even give all the required info demanded below without access to the config wizard. Quote:

Hello, so you copied your 1.4.4 Gallery to your new hoster? Jens |

Yes, and it displays fine, as always. I haven't tried to upload anything to it recently; I suppose that would have been another good test. I think, though I wouldn't swear to it, that I was having the same difficulty before I changed hosts. Oh, I got into my host site via cPanel: it uses Apache version 2.0.63 and PHP version 5.2.6. Added a little later: I just tried to add a photo and got these errors: Quote:
Processing status... Would I maybe be better off just deleting the entire Gallery directory from my host (I've backed up the photos to my hard drive) and re-installing? And if so, should I install v1.5.10 or v2.3? |

Gallery 1.4.x does not work with PHP 5. So you need to upgrade first. Its up to you to which version. Jens |

Thanks. Given that I only have 29 photos altogether in the current Gallery, and that I have them backed up, is it worthwhile to hassle with an upgrade or would it be simpler if I just removed the Gallery directory from my host's server and installed Gallery 2.X or higher? I know it's my choice, but (grin) it's your software. |

Hooray for straightforward answers! Thanks, I'll do that. I delete the directory from the server and then make a new empty one, run the pre-installer to install v2.3 into it via FTP, and go from there reloading my photos, right? |
