I just upgraded to the newest version of Wordpress - 2.7. I was at 2.6.5. Now that I have upgraded, I get this error when you try to access the WPG2 page.

Sorry.. WPG2 Page can not be displayed until WPG2 Plugin has been Validated.

What exactly does this mean? The plugin is activated, otherwise I wouldn't even see the link to go to the gallery. Can someone help me reslove this? Thank you!

I'm confused now...does it mean it works? I don't want to upgrade WP until I know this.

It's likely that he had not re-enabled his Gallery2 Rewrite Plugin after doing the upgrade.

ok after trying random things i figured it out... it was mostly the new wordpress interface that threw me off.
CaliVW78 was right. it was the Gallery2 Rewrite Plugin

You have to go to your Gallery2 admin and reactivate the rewrite plugin and then everything should work fine.

There seems to be another incompatibility. With WPG2 activated the TinyMCE editor in editing articles and pages doesn't work. Does anybody else here have this problem?

I can't comment on the specific problem because I haven't upgraded yet, but I do know that WP2.7 uses a new version of Tiny MCE. Not sure if that fact is helpful.

Hi at all,

the WYSIWYG Bug depends on an obsolete function call in the language files of wpg2. It seems the original (english) lang file is already up to date, so the bug only affect to non english users like me. But it doesn't matter, here is a simple work around...

Just go to the folder "/wp-content/plugins/wpg2/g2image/langs/" of your wordpress installation, there should be a xx.js for your language. In my Case the german file de.js. Open the file in a text editor of your choice and replace:

tinyMCE.addToLang

with:

tinyMCE.addI18n

thats the new name of the new multilang function in tinymce. Don't touch everything before or after this string. Save / upload and replace the old file, and now the WYSIWYG should work fine.

You can also grab a zip package from my page, which includes all updated langliles:

I've reset everything that I could find having to do with URL rewrites and still haven't resolved the problem with the "WPG2 Page can not be displayed until WPG2 Plugin has been Validated." appearing when users try and view photos from my blog and into my gallery. Unfortunately, this is how I share pictures of my children with my parents and they're nagging me to death. Any help would be appreciated.

I've run into the same issue. Unfortunately, reactivating the "URL Rewrite" plug-in in Gallery didn't resolve the issue. In fact, it had nothing to do with the issue. When I finally found the WPG2 link in the new WP interface, it told me that I needed to reactive the "Image Block" plug-in in Gallery. I did that, made sure I set URL Rewrite back to deactivated, and everything is working like a charm.

@bof: Good catch! editing the lang file made tinyMCE visual mode work again. Hopefully the plugin author will release a patched update, I'm sure this was a headache for many other people....

Please help, I'm new to Wordpress and Gallery. Nice combination...I get the same error message ( Sorry.. WPG2 Page can not be displayed until WPG2 Plugin has been Validated.) Wordpress is 2.7 self-hosted in a domain/wp directory. Gallery is 2.3 in domain.net/g2 directory and WPG 3.0.7 I have activated the Rewrite URLs plugin, but still the same error.

Hi, did it, arrived to the point 4, but after activation of the plug in, the tab appeared and still I get the error. I deactivated and reactivated the plugin. Nothing. See attached the link to the snapshots of WPG2 and G2. Thanks in advance. http://www.pauzamea.net/arhiva/wpg.html

In the Wordpress Dashboard -> WPG2 does the status page say WPG2 Validation Check: Valid?

Greg, just a little question: WHY does the ImageFrame need to be enabled? It's a bit tacky, as it displays photos in tables and I always have to mess around things to disable it, yet to have the plugin validated. Can that be changed in one of the future versions?

Hardtana,

It was only required because it was much requested. I would have to add some code in place to detect if it was not activated and disable / reenable frames etc..

You have to go to your Gallery2 admin and reactivate the rewrite plugin and then everything should work fine.

Well, I have the same problem. Good to know I'm not the only one... :)

However, and this may be a stupid question, where can I find the G2 admin in the WP admin?

@roodrunner

where it is depends on the theme you are using, in wp-admin with the standard theme it is in the top banner and called WPG2

Oceco,

I'm using the Sliding Door theme. In there it's in the sidebar, but there is no admin. There is, however, a dashboard. But when I click on that, then I get the validation check. And along with the error message:

Error: Gallery2 version is incompatible
WPG2 plugin requires at least Gallery2 version 2.2, Gallery2 reports you are running version 0

See attachment for visual.

@roodrunner

with "G2 admin": Do you mean gallery2/admin, i.e Gallery2 Site Administration?

roodrunner wrote:

version 0? I think WPG2 can't find your gallery2 installation or can't communicate with it.

Great guess, it basically means Gallery2 is not returning back a version that WPG2 can understand.. Please check your Gallery2 Installation..

Hi eveyrone!

Thank you very much for your help.
I use WP in french and had the same problem with the editor but now it works.
But ... I'm having another problem!

When I click on the "G2"-icon to insert an image in a post, the WPG2-pop-up opens and gives me the following error:

Warning: main(/.../wordpress/wp-content/wp-includes/compat.php) [function.main]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /.../wordpress/wp-content/wp-settings.php on line 238

Fatal error: main() [function.require]: Failed opening required '/.../wordpress/wp-content/wp-includes/compat.php' (include_path='.:/usr/local/lib/php') in /.../wordpress/wp-content/wp-settings.php on line 238

Any idea what the problem can be?
I tried to delete the WPG2-files and to reinstall it, without success.

I'm using WP 2.7.1 and Gallery 2.2.5.

Thanks for your help!

I found the problem, but can't find why it happens.
In the 2nd line (Fatal error) I have the following:
Failed opening required '/.../wordpress/wp-content/wp-includes/compat.php' (include_path='.:/usr/local/lib/php') in /.../wordpress/wp-content/wp-settings.php on line 238

The program try to open the file wp-content/wp-includes/compat.php ... but this file doesn't exist!
The folder "wp-includes" is on the same level as "wp-content", it isn't a sub-folder ...

I suppose that the context of the pop-up is false, but I can't find how to correct it ...

I had a working installation of WPG2 until I installed WP 2.7. None of the answers I have found on this forum so far have resolved my problem, so I hope that someone here can help me.

I have validated my WPG2 -- all's green and says good to go. The plugin is active and all my pics in existing posts work fine, as does the random image widget in the sidebar.

When I click the WPG2 button while composing a post, the expected popup window comes up, but I get this error message:

Fatal Gallery2 Error: Cannot activate the Gallery2 Embedded functions.

For WordPress users, Validate WPG2 in the Options Admin panel.

For other platforms, please verify your Gallery2 path in config.php.

As I said above, all my validation looks good in the WPG2 options. Here is how I had to format my paths to make that work:

Gallery 2 File Path: ../../../../../../homepages/33/anaccountnumberishere/htdocs/markwill/gallery2/

The other paths, which seem to validate fine, also start out with all those .. to drill back up to the right location. Nothing else I try in there validates.

For the sake of posting in a public forum, I substituted the word anaccountnumberishere. I am not using Symlinks, as was another person who was getting the same error I am. I do not have URL rewrites enabled in WPG2 (never have before, either). When I try to enable URL rewrites in my main Gallery Admin page, it starts but within a moment or two when I refresh it shows it as not running anymore. I don't know why that is.

I use 1&1 shared hosting. Any clues?

Don't turn on Gallery2 URL-Rewrite!

It looks your document root is at homepages/33/anaccountnumberishere/htdocs/. Install there your WP, then the path to Gallery2 is /markwill/galery2

I have WPG2 3.0.7 installed with Gallery2 2.3 and WP 2.7

Thanks for your reply. My folder structure hasn't changed since I had all of this working. Are you saying that with WP 2. I have to change it?

Also, this was working fine until I upgraded to WP 2.7, and after checking I didn't see WPG2 listed as a compatible plugin with WP 2.7. I'm thinking maybe it just isn't fully functional with it yet. Pretty close, though, because the images actually still display just fine. I just can't embed them into my posts using the WPG2 button in WP's post editor.

Is there any other way to embed my Gallery2 pics besides using the WPG2 button in the editor?

Thanks again.

This Bug was only be fixed for lang=en - blogs with other languages must still patch the lang-files manually.
