Download (sub)albums as zip without cart? $$

I love the idea of the zip download mod but in many situations the shopping cart is unnecessary and cumbersome.

Is there any easy way to add a "download this (sub)album as zip" function? Just a quick little button you click (like the add to cart button) and a couple seconds later you get a file save prompt.

I know a lot of people out there would love this. So, if you want to be a hero, here is your chance! I'd also be willing to pay/donate for a solution.
