Hello,
When i installed gallery, i followed the advice in the help, and placed the G2data outside of my public_html folder. That makes sense to me.

But can someone explain if its more secure to have a website address as: www.gallery.yourdomain.com versus www.yourdomain.com/gallery2

Is this also more secure? Or is this just preference?

I noticed when i created this "subdomain" using my webhost, it placed the folder outside of my public_html as well, although i can still link to it by typing the full url.

THanks!

i would suggest using the subdomain, its easier to explain to "common" folk...that is if you're going to have people visiting the site...

this is from a web designers point of view but i agree with dave its personal preference..to me

photos.yourdomain.com is alot cleaner then www.yourdomain.com/photos

I am not sure how this affects search engines though any thoughts?

You can use both. Normally, the subdomain gallery.domain.com just redirects to the folder gallery in your public_html. If you place gallery there, users can both use gallery.domain.com as well as domain.com/gallery. If your gallery is already in public_html/gallery2/, move it and edit the config.php file.

But i prefer the subdomain or a combination of both too.
