I have G1 running with about two dozen users on an old, slow PC running Ubuntu. We now have a new machine and several websites, including my gallery, will be moved to it. I am planning to migrate to G2 as well. Can the G2 migration tools migrate from G1 on a different server? If not, any suggestions?
Thanks.

If you copy the gallery files from one server to the other, then yes!

You don't really upgrade if you follow the directions you install G2 and migrate your G1 data to the G2 install.
FAQ: Can I update from G1 -> G2?
Ask specific questions if you get stuck.

Do I have to actually get the G1 working on the new server or can I just copy the files? Also, does the albums directory have to be in the same relative location on the new server?
A little explanation, I have G1 integrated in to postnuke 0.75 on an old machine and I am trying to migrate to G2 on a new machine which I will then integrate with WordPress whose content has been migrated from the old postnuke installation.

rpyne, you should open your own thread describing your situation.
We suggest getting g1 running so you can be sure that your data is valid before migrating. You only *need* your albums directory to migrate from G1 to G2, but if you have the whole thing working, then you can make sure that your G1 data is clean.
Good luck, and please feel free to open a new thread *after* you read the migration guide.
Integrating with postnuke and / or wordpress is outside of the normal domain of this particular forum, but you might be able to get help anyway.
