And why would you post about other gallery software here?

how is it more powerful? It only uses GD which does not support gifs in its later versions and ImageMagick which does not produce as great Images and is a major resource hog.

Coppermine isn't all that new actually. I looked at it briefly before I found Gallery.

If Josephp is happy with it then I wish him luck. I'm sure Coppermine has a forum that will welcome his enthusiasm for their product with open arms.

it is powerful becuase it use mySQL.

It supports GIF, you silly ... We use GD and Imagemagick both also.

We have tested uploading 1000 photos and it works like breeze ....

Good for you, it's not like we're in some "Gallery Olympics"

Use what you want, don't use what you don't want. Simple...

Indeed, I completely agree with Andrew.

If you like Coppermine so much, please go bug their forums and keep the discussion here about Gallery (the one and only ;)).

I hope G2 gets as good as this coppermine. I'm using G1. The Coppermine Demo + Features just seem to me more state of the art. I guess a mass upload tool for non win xp users is missing (as Gallery Remote) but all the database features make it look darn attractive.

Idiot, that was our web server problems with Apache and PHP while we are upgrading.

BTW, we arent going to use Coopermine at the moment until I feel do so.

Thank you!

Josephp,

We would all appreciate it if you could refrain from name calling while on these forums (IE - "idiot"). It was not called for and is not welcomed here.
