Hi. Does anyone know how to restrict the number of countries for each language?

For example, I go into Admin->Language Settings, and I add Español as a language. The problem is that in the sidebar, in the language selector, I will have Español, Español(MX) and Español(AR). I would prefer just to have Español, because although there are some minor differences, the work in having 3 additional languages for the Español doesn't justify. The same applies to Portuguese, which has Português and Português(Brasileiro) - I would prefer just to have Portuguese.

I would appreciate any help in solving this issue.

Thanks,
Miguel

How about this?:

Site-Admin -> Lamguage settings -> Remove: Español(MX), Español(AR), Português(Brasileiro)

The problem is that those languages don't appear in Language Settings. The only available selection is, for example, Español. Then, when you go to your live website, the language selector automatically adds Español(MX) and Español(AR).

In the meantime I edited the GalleryTranslator.class in /modules/core/classes, removing the extra language/country pairs and it worked... more or less. The multilanguage tab in the albuns still shows Español(MX) and Español(AR) for the Español language, although in the language selector they don't appear anymore, which was what I needed. In any case this is not a clean solution. I think we should be able to accomplish this in the administrator interface, since when there is some kind of update to Gallery, I will loose these changes.

I tested it with English(UK). Deleted it and it didn't appear anymore in "Your Account" settings. But I do not use Gallery2 accelleration and template caches!
Right know I'm experiencing another strange language behaviour. Yesterday I installed the checkout module and soon I realized that the language files for all foreign languages are missing. Today I saw that there is a new build available including language files. After installation the tests show that the module switches the language between English and German at random intervalls ;-)

So, if you into Site Admin->Language Settings, you can see both English(UK) and English(US)? And for that matter, can you also see Español, Español(AR) and Español(MX)? If you do, then my installation might have some problem.

No, no, no: You are right! I did my tests too fast. I'm sorry for that! But now I completly agree with you, one should be able to remove language dialects, or even better: If I put text into the Spanish tab of an item but leave the others (MX, AR, Catalan) empty, then Gallery2 should display the Spanish content.
