I always thought the load time of a page would impact on search engines.
Although there is no solid evidence to back this having a smaller page means a faster loading page which is why i always try to keep things external as much as possible. css and js anyway.

In G3 css and JS files are combined and compressed then served. This speeds up things. Not sure if SEO is effected.
It shouldn't effect SEO. I can't think of any search engine that cares about your css or js. They should only care about content. Get as much markup out of the page as possible and make it mostly just content and you'll go far
Load time might impact search engines, but they are not a person who is impatient waiting for a page to load. They're fetching your HTML, I doubt they even fetch your css or js. Why should they? Those files don't or shouldn't contain any end user content.

We are getting closer, but I still don't know why I can't get the album section to be white like the rest of the album boxes.

I doubt the search engines take external or internal css into account.
Have some empirical data to back that up?
