Just want to say hi and hope everyone has a great day.

I came here from Coppermine. Not that I did not like the software but the people in the support forums have been rude and not helpful.

Hopefully people here will be more tolerant of questions posed by someone who is not a coder. In their forum I would post a question and five posts later I still would not have an answer to the question...instead they would insist on running me around in circles, link to FAQ's that did not answer the questions then get rude when I tried to point out the fact that I was still not getting an answer to the question.

If the response in the FAQ or instructions did not work and I posted the problem all I got in reply was yet another link back to the same FAQ. When I pointed this out I was banned for being rude?

There is no good help there and I can't use an other wise good product if I have no place to get support for a problem.

I am hoping that in this forum people will understand that not everyone is a programmer. That a question is just a question and not a debate. I would have respected them more if they just said "I don't know" or "I won't tell you" or just did not reply at all. I don't expect anything more than an honest answer to a question.

I don't expect to be ill treated if an answer totally misses the mark and I ask it again. Sometimes I may not be clear and I have no problem trying to re-phrase something when that is the case.

Today is a wonderful day to try a new gallery !

The only thing I've ever seen for someone getting banned around here for is spam. I think if you were out right being malicious and callous you might get banned, but we've had plenty of rude posts and posters, posts remain intact, they are not edited or deleted (unless a link goes to an ad/spam/malware site) I'm not sure about the other mods, but the most I'll do is move threads into more appropriate forums if they are off topic for that forum, I'll also delete and block spammers and I've edited an occasional post to remove either an old, dead link that was now pointing to a useless ad page oh and to remove people's usernames and passwords that occasionally get posted... ;)

Aside from that we try to be helpful here. ;)

I'm going to move this thread into the General Chit-Chat forum as I don't see any specific question or feedback about Gallery2.

Ask away if you have any questions.

I ban about 3 users a day for spam. But they're one-shot wonders, created just to post a link (like the one I just deleted/banned from this thread.)

Incidentally, the GMC Forum software servers *all* links in posts with no-follow, so they're not indexed by search engines. So most of the spam is pretty pointless anyway.

That is totally fair. I respect that this is not the place to spam. It is a place to find help with problems with the gallery. To that end no one knows it all and the only dumb question is the one you don't ask ! How else to learn?
