Customizing slider with breadcrumb navigation

I'd like to customize the slider theme to show the breadcrumb navigation in the bar below the thumbnail slider. However, I've toyed around with editing both slider.tpl and the theme.css and I can't see how to integrate the breadcrumb section into the main page.

Any suggestions?
