URL Rewrites when Gallery is a child of another page

I currently have the following setup.

My gallery is a child page of a main page:

http://www.example.com/wordpress/subpage/gallery

Gallery 2 is installed at:

http://www.example.com/wordpress/gallery2

When I turn on URL rewrite, the links within the WPG2 gallery point to:

http://www.example.com/wordpress/subpage/v/etc...

Which 1) isn't what I want and 2) doesn't work anyway (404). It *should* point to if this was working as one would expect is:

http://www.example.com/wordpress/subpage/gallery/v/etc...

Which also doesn't work (404).

What *DOES* work when URL rewrite is on going to is:

http://www.example.com/wordpress/v/etc...

But to get that to work I have to move the Gallery to be a main page, which isn't what I'm looking for.

How can I get this to work properly? I've tried tweaking the URL rewrites in Gallery to include the missing parts of the path, but it doesn't do it. More 404s.
