Hello everyone
I'm patiently following Gallery 3 development from the first release, and I am looking forward to a stable release. Currently, gallery system on my website is, unfortunately, Coppermine, and I decided that when Gallery 3 comes out, I will migrate everything to it. Did anyone do something similar before, and do you have any idea which would be the most painless way to do it? Cause if I would have to manually enter descriptions etc for thousands of photos, it will never be done... I guess I could make a script which would do copy/paste from DB, but there are many other problems to be solved, for example Coppermine does not create a separate folder for each album.
I'd like to hear your ideas

I doubt anyone has even thought about Coppermine migration to G3. There are 2 unofficial, user contributed modules for G2 here: http://codex.gallery2.org/Gallery2:User_Contributions#Modules
I've never used them and don't know how well they work. I think since the Gallery devs are working on a G2 to G3 migration path your best bet is going to be to install an older version of G2 (2.2) since that's what those existing modules claim they work with. They may or may not have been updated to work with 2.3, looking at the threads in the forums, I seriously doubt it.
Once you have them in Gallery 2.2, then upgrade to 2.3 and from there migrate to G3
Of course I'd wait until there is a stable release of G3 before spending any time on this. Maybe just test Coppermine to G2 to test to make sure it gets everything you want.

+1 for a Coppermine -> Gallery 3 importer! That would be much easier than importing to Gallery 2 first, imo. If anybody is willing to take a stab at the code, I'll be happy to help.

I would love that feature too, I have a small gallery with about 6000 photos and the Coppermine to G2 didnt work for me, so I'm waiting for Coppermine to G3.
I would also love the forum module to come to G3

Anyone come up with this yet? It's the only thing stopping me from using Gallery. I really don't want to have to recreate all the albums, etc.

I've not seen anything new regarding this.
