Newest Items (Images and Video) on first page

Hello,

hope someone can give me a hint here ;)

Oo I am runniing Gallery 2.3 so far all is good. Now we are having a lot of Images and Videos in a lot of Directorys What we would need is an option to see the newest additions (Video or Images) right when the Visitor enters the page. All I could find and do so far was to get a random Image, wich is nit really waht we needed right now.

I would be thankfull for any advice.
