Has anyone tried upgrading to 2.8 yet? Does WPG2 still work? |

Yeah I am waiting to see if anyone has try it as well before I go on with my upgrade. My links always break everytime I de-activate and re-activate the plugins.

On a test site I installed WP2.8 and Gallery 2.3. WPG2 unfortunately did not work. I will install WP2.7.1 and Gallery 2.3 and do an upgrade to to see what happens. I will post the results errors messages here.

I've tested WPG2 3.0.5 with Wordpress 2.8(de). As far as i can see the public stuff works fine: links, galleries, etc - no problems.
[old]For the admin-area i noticed a problem with tinyMCE (Wordpress WYSIWYG-thing): WPG tries to add its button with "tinyMCE.addToLang", but as far as i can see this function does not exist so WYSIWYG will not work as long as you have WPG activated. Maybe addToLang has been renamed to "tinyMCE.addI18n" - this looks quiet similar...[/old]

Problem occoures also with 2.7 and was only fixed for LANG=en in WPG2 3.0.5

adlerweb so you are pretty confident that there are no new compatibility issues related to WP 2.8. (ie. only old issues that have a known resolution)?

Well I went ahead and tried it and found out that WPG2 v3.x works perfectly with Wordpress 2.8. I had no problems whatsoever.

I seem to be getting a blank screen of death everytime I try and update anything / change permissions et cin any of the admin sections of both Gallery2 and wordpress.
It even seemt o extend to logging in - and NOT being able to log out ..
I've disabled all my plugins and it seems it is the latest WPG2 plugin.
Running wordpress 2.8 and gallery 2.2.5 with latest wpg2
anybody else seen anything like this/??

If you have access to the servers logfiles try to find a corresponding error there. Most times i get a blank screen it was related to memory- or time-limits.
Wordpress login/out and gallery login/out are both working here.

It's only occurring when the current WPG2 plugin is installed and verified - other than that WP 2.8 is running fine.
The embedded gallery is also working fine unless you are logged in and making changes via either WP admin Gallery admin
(embedded in WP) and also standalone G2 Admin screens.
Where specifcally should I look for in the logfiles?

I just upgraded my production site from Wordpress 2.7.1 to Wordpress 2.8 with WPG2 3.0.7 and everything seems to be working correctly. On a side note, it seems development on WPG2 is dead. The last time I looked at wpg2next.com there were no new updates in quite some time.

Seems like upgrade is working (at least as well as WPG2 normally works) but new install is totally wrecked....
Blank screens randomly in admin section.
Sometimes validation "works" but no validation were made
WPG2-page is created but "dead"
And so on....
Since development on WPG2 seems dead, does anyone have ideas for another integration?

I'm not sure what we should do. Sometimes I debate using Wordpress-native galleries (WP 2.3+?), but then I wonder how portable that would be if I ever decide to move to another blogging platform or CMS (Habari? Drupal? Joomla?). That's not implying that WPG2 IS portable, because when Wordpress finally breaks WPG2 once and for all, you'd better believe all your <wpg2> tags are going to be useless!
What about using Gallery's native image blocks in posts and pages? I guess it's kinda a pain in the ass to insert images but it eliminates the middle man (plugins, API changes in Wordpress, whatever). And that doesn't solve the problem if you want to INTEGRATE Gallery itself into Wordpress (not to mention users).

My hope is that we'll see new integration with Gallery 3. Supposedly it will be easier to embed and with the popularity of Wordpress I'm hoping that someone will pick up development as the SVN is still available:

I have only one problem that I've noticed since upgrading from WP 2.6.2 to 2.8 (and nothing has changed in 2.8.1), and that is that my Piclens/CoolIris slideshow stopped working.
If you go to a gallery directly, it works fine, but if you go to it through WPG2, it looks okay, but clicking on the "View slideshow" link doesn't work anymore. Everything else seems to be fine. Any idea what I might have done?

Any advice on what might have changed (I did nothing but upgrade to WP 2.8) or broken would be most appreciated. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the slideshow plugin from the gallery control panel, but that did nothing.

Looks like xImtc ^^ has a working site...at least the links above seem to be OK. Is there any more people that have tried WPG2 with a WP2.8 upgrade? This is my last plugin that I cant get confirmation on so I can upgrade.
(and lets hope the WP 2.8 branch lasts longer than a few months before the next version is released sending all the plugin developers scrambling again)

Yep. Works fine. Although around about the same time my WPG2 G2 Image Chooser stopped working in Firefox. It still works in IE8 though, so I doubt it's related to WP 2.8.5.
