The following information is required to get an answer:

Sorry can't find the configuration wizard

Get this information from the PHP diagnostic (in the configuration wizard).
Gallery URL (optional but very useful):
Gallery version:1.4.3

www.alexkrenz.co.za/gallery

Hi

Need some help.. never used Gallery before... My client moved Gallery to a new server by simply copying and pasting his whole website to the new location...

Now I suspect to get it to work one needs to run an install BUT
1) the installtion files have been deleted
2) we no longer have the old database but all the images do seem to be one the site.

Please could someone tell me how I can re-install Gallery but without loosing any customization that my clinet may have done previously?

Thanks

I don't see a tutorial on how to do this in G1, but check config.php (or is it configure.php) and check the paths to everything. You're also going to have to make sure the permissions on the albums directory are set so the webserver can change ALL files and directories under the albums directory.

Sorry but I haven't used G1 in years so I'm just flying by memory here.

Hit the documentation on G1: http://codex.gallery2.org/Main_Page

Install a test setup and try playing around just to get a feel for things yourself in how it's suppose to be setup. Granted downloading the latest version of G1 and installing that, the config wizard is a little different with some different options, but is basically the same as 1.4.3.

I do suggest that once you have 1.4.3 to upgrade to the latest version of G1.

Or if you want, you could look into upgrading to G2, I think you just need access to your albums directory from G1. Er, wait, you should have a working G1 install to run through a few tests and cleanup stuff first...

Ok so I've checked the config and al is good there.. file permissions are also good...

Just to double check, what you are saying is I should install a new version of gallery (and its gonna keep all the previous customisations?) or I should be saving these somewhere and then copying them back after the install?

so if file permissions and config.php are good, is Gallery working?

I'm saying if you want to get more familiar with Gallery you should install it into a completely separate location so you don't mess with your current install, don't use the same Albums directory, etc.

Your site takes forever to load here, so I'm not trying to access it.

The setup files MUST be from the same version of Gallery you already have.

I think I just checked out the right version for 1.4.3 from SVN, I'm sending you a PM with a link, I'll leave it there for a few days.

Make sure you backup before doing anything. I'm not an SVN checkout expert so I might have gotten the completely wrong version.
