500 Internal Server Error

This has been a recurrent problem for me, using the alpha and the betas.

I had thought it was me messing something up, but this time I have no idea what could have caused it!

I've not done anything to the gallery since last looking at it, but it's now 500'ing.
It's not the .htaccess file (confirmed by temporarily renaming it), but note that I have done the /index.php/ removal.

I really am stumped on how to get past this issue, so any idea/comments/questions/thoughts will much appreciated.

Okay, more wierdness.
As soon as I post this I try again - I renamed the .htaccess away and back, and it's working!?

Check the server's error logs to get more information about 500 internal server errors.
