On my old Host, the server there couldnt cope with Gllery2, took up too much cpu, apparently, so I tried to install Coppermine. Much to my disgust, I stopped using it straight away, but some members had uploaded pictures to it. I installed the Coppermine migration tool, and it asks for a directory path for the albums you want moved over. I have tried every form of that path to move the pictures over, but it keeps saying the file doesnt exist, even though I am looking at it.

Does anybody have any ideas how I can move these pictures from Coppermine to Gallery2?

Thank you.

John.

I've never used that plugin, but I'm guessing it's asking for a system file path. Meaning, those Coppermine pictures have to be on the same server as Gallery.

Hi, thank you for your message. The Coppermine Gallery is in the same Directory as Gallery2 on the same server, so not sure why it wont recognise it. mysite/www/copermine and mysite/www/Gallery2, but I just realised, would the fact that g2data is in the directory mysite. Isnt that where the albums are stored? Am I making sense there?

What does that mean? Are you really specifying www.mysite.com/coppermine or just mysite/www/coppermine The full path is probably more like /home/UserName/public_html/mysite/www/coppermine or something like that.

Don't think about g2data. If gallery is installed and working, don't worry about that :)

Well, er, what tool are you using to migrate from CP to G2?

Hi Sorry, as you had seen my Directory, I just abbreviated for you, instead of putting in the full path.

the full path is:-

/srv/www.mysite.co.uk/www/coppermine/albums/albumnumber/ and Gallery2 is /srv/www.mysite.co.uk/www/Gallery/

and for the tool, I am using the Coppermine Migration Tool found in Gallery2 plugins.

I add the path exactly as seen, and it still says folder not found. So not sure why it should be saying that.

Hope that helps,

John.

Hi suprsidr....thank you for your message. I have to say, I am a complete novice when it comes to programming and scripts, and that just didnt make any sense to me at all. It is a useful bit of information though, and I am really grateful for it. It did however make me think about how I was entering the path, and discovered that I was adding too much, instead of stopping at /srv/www.mysite.co.uk/www/coppermine/ once I stopped there, and clicked on enter, it worked and I've migrated the albums I needed to with no problems, as there werent that many. It just took seconds once I realised.

Thank you again for your help.

John.

I have a little bit of a problem, the albums and pictures can only be viewed if you are logged in, they cant be viewed if you are just a guest. How do I change that? There is no problem with thumbnails, they are already made, they just arent viewable to the guests. Not come across this before.

Hi, from what I can gather, that Permission is already there. Is there anything else that could cause it? Its the first time its happened. The person that I moved the gallery for, has already uploaded a picture to the gallery, and that shows, but the migrated pictures and albums dont. its strange that I can view them when I log in.

Try resetting the permissions. Remove ALL view permissions then add them back for the Everybody group.

Ok, just so that I know what you mean by root album, that is my album right, as I am root. I have a funny guest album that appeared when the gallery was installed, and the person that installed it couldnt tell me what that was. So I dont know if that is root, or my album is root. How can I find out exactly which album is root and which shows the root permissions.

Edit......Plus something that I went in to look at last night, in the shell the permissions for that album the picture uploaded by him as the permissions -rw-r--r-- but the pictures migrated from CM to the G2 have the permissions drwxr-xr-x. Would that have anything to do with it. I've never had a problem with uploading pictures before, on other server, even for other people, but I'm wondering if its the Ubuntu server and the way its configured by the person who owns it.

No, the root album means www.example.com/gallery/ <--- The main, first page of your Gallery Is it the top level, parent album. It contains all of the sub-albums and sub-items. IIRC, you're using the classic theme, there should be a menu on the left side of the screen when you're logged in.

Oh wow, that was quick, was just editing my post, to add a bit (see above). I thought that was what you meant, and that is what I took as the root. I am not sure if it makes a difference, but those are not all my albums, I have members who have joined to post pictures, would that make a difference, if its another persons album?

no life, working very early in the morning on stuff. Going to head to bed to wake back up in a couple hours :)

That would reset permissions they've set on their albums too, so probably not a good idea. You can go to each problem album then and edit permissions, remove them all, and add them back to reset the permissions on those albums and sub-items.

I have just tried to get into the album using the shell access and with the permissions shown above, getting right into the actual separate albums, its giving me an error saying no such file or directory. So I have a feeling its the actual permissions on the folder, and contents not admin side permissions.

Well, I am really grateful to you being there, thank you, I really appreciate it. I hope you do manage to get some sleep. :)

Is that better changing in the acp or via shell?

Done and fixed, I removed the Add Everybody [core] View all versions for just his album, added it again, and now the subalbums show. Brilliant, thank you. :)
