Importing from Gallery2 when more than one language is available

In another thread I wrote the following about "no multilang support":

"The import apparently only fetched my English language meta data. Since Gallery3 has support for more than one interface language, I would have expected it to support meta data in the same languages - maybe I'm overlooking something?"

With Gallery3 giving the administrator the ability to choose one or more interface languages, I expected to be able to enter (and import) meta data in those same languages - i.e. I expected that multiple languages were already supported.

But with the above not being the case, and with meta data in my case being available in two languages in Gallery2, the import function should ask which set of meta data to import. It may automatically have chosen to import the English language meta data, as English may have been the default interface language in Gallery3 when I did the import (alas, I can't remember).
